A secret word is chosen and shown as blank spaces. Guess one letter at a time. Correct guesses reveal the letter’s position(s) in the word. Wrong guesses add parts to the hangman drawing. Guess the word before the drawing is complete!
You get 6 wrong guesses before the game ends. Each wrong guess adds a body part to the hangman: head, body, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg.
Our Hangman uses a diverse vocabulary of English words across various categories including animals, objects, places, and common nouns. Words range from 4 to 12 letters in length.
Start with the most common letters in English: E, T, A, O, I, N, S, H, R. These letters appear in most words. Avoid rare letters like Q, X, Z, J until you have more context from revealed letters.
